The Malheur County Drug Free Communities (DFC) Coalition is dedicated to supporting drug free communities. The DFC Coalition encourages volunteers to help, and members are recruited from the Cradle to Career Partnership and from the community at large.
DFC Coalition subcommittees work on issues related to advocacy, events and education. The advocacy subcommittee works to recruit new coalition members, including businesses that can help to champion the cause. This subcommittee also helps to develop and disseminate policies to promote health and reduce substance abuse.
The events subcommittee organizes several local events. The Shop with a Cop, Run with a Cop, and Fish with a Cop events are all mentorship activities between kids and law enforcement. Other events include Hands Around the Park for Recovery, the Drug Awareness and Education Forum and the Prescription Drug Summit. Please check the Lifeways Calendar for upcoming events.
The education subcommittee offers programs and workshops to promote health and reduce substance abuse. The Toolbox Project, Mental Health First Aid, Positive Community Norms, and Red Ribbon Week Presentations are examples of subcommittee sponsored educational opportunities.
