As part of our values and mission as a non-profit, comprehensive behavioral health organization, Lifeways, Inc., acquired a 16-bed adult psychiatric acute care hospital in Boise, Idaho on January 1, 2019 from Safe Haven. The newly named Lifeways Hospital will serve the region by maintaining open psychiatric beds in an area with significant local and intrastate need for residents with severe and persistent mental illness. The hospital’s ease of access will allow families connectivity with their loved ones during inpatient psychiatric care.

Lifeways’ dedicated, professional, mission-driven staff will continue to provide clients the high-level of support and individualized care they need to achieve mental and emotional health and well-being. Clients receive 24-hour supervision and on call emergency coverage.

Katie Bettinger

She works at the Lifeways Hospital but is stepping into her new role as Program Director for the new Intensive Outpatient Program, Stepping Stones at Lifeways Hospital! Katie was hired in the social work department at Safe Haven Hospital during her first-year internship. She quickly transitioned from intern to interim director of the department and has continued to work in the department since Lifeways purchased the hospital.
As a military spouse, Katie attended six schools across the country during her collegiate career. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boise State University in 2016. She then went on to attend Northwest Nazarene University where she received her master’s degree in social work. During her master’s program, Katie not only worked two jobs and raised two young children, she also completed a full thesis, took overtime classes to finish school early, and graduated with honors. Katie is currently a LMSW and is working on obtaining her clinical license.
Katie has enjoyed her time with Lifeways and in specific her time in inpatient care. “Inpatient psychiatric care is my passion. I enjoy working with people in crisis and helping them through what is often one of the most challenging times in their lives. I am grateful for the amazing team here at Lifeways!”
