Andrade is dedicated to lifelong learning and growth. She loves getting to play a part in advocating, facilitating and contributing to creating learning opportunities for others. With Lifeways, she has been able to align her profession with her passion. Working with developing professionals, hearing their stories, their new ideas and watching the next generation of helping professionals “come into their own” is one of the most satisfying parts of the work that she contributes to.
“This work can be so hard sometimes, but it can also be so rewarding. Mission-driven work is my favorite flavor of work! When you are working toward a mission with folks who are bright, gritty and kind its easier to stay motivated and hopeful through the difficult parts of clinical and community work.
Helping to develop really rich internship opportunities for folks getting ready to take that leap into clinical and community work has been so rewarding. I remember feeling flooded and a little lost when I was evaluating how I wanted to “show up” as a professional. I was fortunate to have an incredible supervisor that really helped me evaluate what kept me humming and passionate about the work that I want to do. I was incredibly fortunate and I want everyone to have that shot.
Now, I love being able share the richness and deep satisfaction that can come with mission driven work in an organization like Lifeways with incoming students, who might be feeling a little lost themselves. We have had some of the most incredible experiences with students completing their internships. Through their contributions and feedback, we have developed new programs, outreach approaches, community partners and teaching strategies.
I love working with people. I love hearing their storieswho are able to be vulnerable and brave about their need to grow. I have all the empathy in the world for someone who wants to work toward the next level of wisdom and insight. I think that this rings true in clinical work as well as in professional development and I’m honored when I have an opportunity to come along for the ride, celebrating their determination and cheering them on.
There is something to be said for a mission that is elegant and raw in it’s simplicity. “Helping people to achieve and maintain...” At the end of the day, Lifeways is just a group of fun-loving, driven people. They, we, are just people helping people to become what the world is calling them to be-professionally or in addressing their health needs.”
Lifeways 'lights is here to allow the communities we serve to meet the amazing people and teams that help them each and everyday! Each week a different employee from the Lifeways Continuum of Care will be featured here complete with photo and bio explaining who they are and what they do! Additionally every month a different Lifeways team will be highlighted as well.
