Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is an in-person training that teaches you how to help people who may be developing a mental illness or who may be experience crisis related symptoms. This class 1) teaches about the signs of addiction and mental illness, 2) offers a five-step action plan to assess a situation, 3) reviews the impact of mental health and substance use disorders, 4) identifies local resources that can provide help.

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches a five-step action plan to offer initial help to young people who are showing signs of a mental illness or who may be experiencing crisis related symptoms. This program can help to connect the young person with the appropriate professional, peer, social, or self-help care.

Anyone can take the eight-hour Youth Mental Health First Aid course. This course is especially helpful for adults (e.g., teachers, coaches, faith community leaders, social workers) who work with young people, ages 12-18. For more information call 541-889-9167.
